Scholarships in the long run provide you with a degree. That degree will then provide you with a career that you love. You will be able to work and gain MONEY. You will be able to live your wonderful life without worrying about college debt. That's what grants and scholarships provide you with.

I am almost finished with my list. The things I have left to do is retake the SAT and ACT. When I finish with these test I only have to worry about applying to college. If can get a high enough score on those then I will most likely get accepted to any university of my choice. I am planning on taking theses tests again in May or June. I feel like I am almost where I need to be. I feel like I have a little more work to do. The universities I chose are the ones I want to go to and are at the top of the medical field. I don't think I would like to go anywhere else.

United States v. India

Education in India is not the best. They don't have all the resources needed. Now the U.S, compared to India is much better. The education system is bigger and we have a lot more resources than they do. In India they can't make the kids attend school but here they try to make everyone go. Some might get away with it but for the most part every kid will be put in school.
Pediatric Dentistry
My degree would be worth the cost for economic and social success because dentist earn quite a lot of money. If I have money I can have a better house and car. I can have and get many things to be socially successful. Economically I would be beyond fine.
Even though it will take about 10-12 years to finish my education it will be worth it. Everything will work out just fine.

Spring Break:
This spring break I will most likely stay at home and do nothing. My family never does anything for spring break. My dad has to work all week and he never likes to take days off so we will net be doing anything. The most that I'll probably do is have some friends over and hang out. Might study and catch up on a project I have but probably not. Most likely I won't do any work but lets hope I do.

  1. One of the most influential people in my life is Eryn Sherman. She has showed me that life is short and we have to live it to the fullest. We can't live life being angry at the world. We have to make the best out of every situation. She showed me that we have to laugh and and take things in life a little lightly. Eryn showed me that love and laughter are one of the most important things in life.
  2. Mr. Keating says that because many people think that poetry is for sensitive people. Poetry is not just for sensitive people. Poetry takes so much to write.
  3. I agree with what Mr. Keating said to the boys when standing on the desk. The boys were showed that conforming was not always. There were other ways to look at things in life. Mr.Keating was the one who finally opened their eyes.
  4. When I die or leave school i would like to be known as a hard-working person. Someone who never gave up on her dreams and who put god in first place. Someone who helped people no matter what.
Neil would have thought about the idea of committing suicide but he would have gone through with it. I feel that Mr. Keating in a way pushed him to telling his father how he felt. Neil was so overwhelmed in that moment he couldn't take it anymore.
Todd was the most courageous of the boys. At first he was afraid of being with all these new people but once he got to know them he felt free to express himself freely.
The coward was the one who told on all the boys. He went toward the easy way out.

February 18th:
The theme of The Dead Poets Society is not to conform. Its about doing your own thing and not caring what other think or say about you. People do not always realize that what you're doing and how you do things is because you are passionate about it. They do not realize that you do it because you love it and that's what makes you happy. In the film, Mr. Keating tells the guys that they need to do their own thing. HE tells them that you do not have to have the same ideas as other poets. You do not have to write like older poets did. He helps them see that life isn't about doing everything like everyone else.

Dead Poets Society:

In my opinion, Todd, was the one who transformed the most through the film. At first he didn't want to talk, read, or even preform a poem. Todd was very quiet and didn't want to speak out. He felt that he wasn't good enough to do poetry. He felt that his poetry was bad and unworthy to be read out loud. Mr. Keating made Todd feel like he mattered. He made him see his poetry was wonderful and amazing. He made Todd see he could do anything he wanted.
Charlie I believe doesn't change throughout the film. In the beginning he was daring and he never changed. He was so busy trying not to conform and he never really changed.
Mr. Keating changed a little in my eyes. He was able to see life differently. He didn't necessarily change he way of teaching or his way of guiding the students to not conform he just simply saw life in a different manner because of those boys.
  • Todd Anderson: he was scared and that his poetry was not worthy of being read. He believed that it wasn't good enough. He eventually did overcome his fear thanks to Mr.Keating.
  • Neil Perry: was scared of standing up to his dad. He was scared of telling him what he actually wanted. He never really overcame his fear because he killed himself instead of standing up to his father.
  • Knox Overstreet: He was scared of standing up and telling the love of his life how he felt about her. He did overcome his fear because he finally told her how he felt and made a deal with her. It all came out pretty good and they did end up together.
  • Charlie Dalton: was scared of conforming. He wanted to stand out and not be like everybody else. He in a way achieved his goal of not conforming because he tried so hard to always be different.

Discussion Questions:
1)The roles of women in the 1950s were very limited. Women's roles were in the house. They belonged in the house cleaning, cooking, sewing, comforting children, and caring for their husbands. The women were supposes to have dinner on the table by five o'clock so her husband could eat when he go home. All these things were normal for women but as the time went by things began to change. Now a days women don't really care about things the same as they did in the 1950s. Women still cook and clean but now they also can get a real education. They can work and have a real life unlike the women in the 1950s. The biggest thing was that divorce is a lot more common now than it was then. Women now actually stand up for themselves and say I've had enough.

2)Betty reacted the way she did because it wasn't common for a women to keep on studying after getting married. Betty also was a little jealous that Joan was going farther with her life. She was going to be more successful. If I were Betty I wouldn't react the same. I would be extremely happy for my friend who would have this great opportunity. I would congratulate her and help her with what ever she needed. I would maybe be jealous but that's it. I wouldn't try to destroy her hopes and dreams.

Ms.Watson v. Charles Dickens
The way Ms.Watson taught was in a way strict but at the same time she did not pressure her students into liking the art in front of them. She told her students " you are not required to like it; just consider it." She was teaching her students that not everything in life, has to be liked but, you can't just go around shutting everything down that you don't like. She taught them that you can be free to have a say in the world around you.
Now Charlie Dickens way of teaching was a lot different. He taught the students that only the facts matter. He taught them that the facts are more important than anything else. He said, "nothing else will ever be of any service upon these children".
I like the way Ms.Watson teaches because I would like to be taught that I can have an opinion and that I don't have to like everything. I would much rather have a teacher like her than to have someone like Charles Dickens.

Mona Lisa Smile
The thing  that I liked the most was the way Katherine didn't care what others said. She didn't care that the staff didn't like the way she taught. She taught the way she wanted and she taught outside the box. Katherine did not conform to the university. When the principle tried to make her conform so she could stay at Wellesley, but Katherine did not let them "put her in a box".

MOVIE TRAILER:

This movie seems very interesting. I think it will be about a lady who seeks a school who will make a change but she becomes disappointed when she realizes other words. She was seeking to actually help and teach but instead she comes to find that they only want to marry and don't really care about school anymore. The movie seems old but it still seems interesting. The characters are great and i feel that the movie will be awesome.

College VS. High School

High school exams are a lot easier now that I researched how college works. We kind of have it good. Most of our teachers give us a review or at least they go over what will be on the test. One "benefit" is that in college exams are not frequent. The down side to that is that if you fail one test you have to work 10x harder to be able to have a good grade. I would find a friend and study with them and try to understand all the information given to me.
